The North Carolina Science Leadership Association (NCSLA) announces its Science Leadership Summit on Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 12:30 – 5:00 PM in Raleigh, NC at the McKimmon Center. The Spring Summit theme is “Let Innovation Inspire You” with an emphasis on innovative programs that feature STEM initiatives.
Dan St. Louis, Director of the Manufacturing Solutions Center at Catawba Valley Community College will be our keynote speaker and will share "Innovations That Spark STEM Interest In The Classroom" by discussing innovative techniques to engage students in formal and informal settings.
DPI STEM will provide updates at the meeting. We encourage all science supervisors and leaders from each LEA to attend.
INNOVATIVE PLAYGROUND SESSION:
NCSLA will have playground sessions that focused on fun creative ways to bring engineering/STEM strands into your classroom. Some of the playground areas you can explore are
- Programming Arduinos and Raspberry Pi
- Learning Scratch
- 3D Printing Integration
- Using Bee Bots, Pro Bots, and Sphero in the classroom
- Makey, Makey Integrations
- Programming WeDo 2.0 and EV3
- Digital Breakout Sessions
- Converting Cookie Cutter Labs into STEM based labs
Register now for the Science Leadership Summit. You may pay the registration fee with check or credit card. Early bird registration, $50, ends on March 30, 2018. Regular registration fees are $55 before April 17, 2018 and late/on-site registration is $60.
