It is my pleasure to invite you to attend the spring Science Leadership Summit on April 6th at the Durham Public Schools Staff Development Center. The theme for the Spring Summit is “PBLs for All.” Meet our keynote speaker, Dr. Brian Mandel from the Smithsonian, and learn about upcoming curriculum ideas for using Problem-Based Learning in K-12 classrooms. We will have breakout sessions where you can see example problem and project-based activities for both formal and informal educational settings.
You will also have an opportunity to meet fellow science educators and exchange ideas about problem-based learning, as well as other challenges for schools, informal sites and universities. The registration fee is only $59. This includes lunch and all activities.
Register and find out more about the Spring Summit online. This will be a great experience for everyone! Alisa Wickliff has outdone herself in organizing this one!
At the Summit, on April 6th, we will be announcing a great opportunity for classroom teachers across the state related to problem- and project-based learning that will be available in the future for NCSLA members. We are keeping it “secret” until then!
Congratulations to Dennis Kubasko for being elected NCSLA President-Elect and to Carla Billups, who was elected as the NCSLA Secretary. Congratulations also to Cheryl Horton and Beverly Owens. Both were elected as Directors to the NCSLA Board. All their terms will begin on June 1,, 2019.
Please put November 13, 2019 on your calendar for the NCSLA Fall Summit. This event will be in Winston-Salem, just prior to the NCSTA Professional Development Institute.
