NCSLA's Strategic Plan for 2010-2015

In June 2009 NCSLA members were invited to complete a survey about the what value they have gained from belonging to this organization as well as what direction they believe NCSLA should head in the future. The results of this survey were brought before the board of directors during a two-day retreat.

The result is a strategic plan for NCSLA for the next 5 years. The board identified five areas to focus our efforts:

Network: Provide opportunities for NC science education leaders to network with each other, and partner with organizations and sponsors holding similar interests/missions.

Celebrate: Celebrate science education leaders in North Carolina.

Support: Recruit and support the development of, emerging science education leaders.

Lead: Sustain science education leadership at all levels.

Advocate: Advocate for an appropriate P-12 science education in NC—one that is suitable for building the kinds of knowledge, skills, and abilities that are critical to work and life in the 21st century.

Objectives and initiatives with a defined timeframe and responsible party have been identified for each strategic goal. During the next several years we will keep members updated on our progress towards reaching these goals.

Members are invited to download a copy of our strategic plan. If you are interested in helping NCSLA attain its goals, please contact us and let us know how you want to contribute.
