Judy McDonald, NCSLA Treasurer

From ClipboardI have been a STEM educator for over 25 years serving many communities, from K-16 to in-service teachers.  Living in NC for over 20 years, I am currently working at Belmont Abbey College teaching pre-service elementary science teachers and engaging with the local K-8 science community. Collaborating with Discovery Place, I have designed and implemented a course for pre-service teachers, Science and the Community, which explores how informal science can impact the science classroom.  Some of my most challenging work allows me to create STEM curriculum for Discovery Education.

When I am not working, my husband and I enjoy playing outdoors.  We like to hike, bike, boat and discover the great outdoors.  Our most recent trip to Iceland allowed us to explore a geologic wonderland.

Thank you for this opportunity to serve the NCSLA community.  I look forward to serving on the board of such an important organization for STEM education in NC.
