The North Carolina Science Leadership Association (NCSLA) announces its Fall Summit Meeting on Wednesday, October 18th 2017, from 1:00 – 5:00 PM in Greensboro, NC at the Koury Center. The Fall Summit theme is “Achieving Excellence in STEM Education in NC” with an emphasis on innovative programs that feature STEM initiatives.
Del Ruff from the American Institute of Architects in Washington, DC will be our first keynote speaker and will share "Crossing the STREAM (Strategies That Re-Engage All Minds)" by discussing techniques to engage students in formal and informal settings. Dr. Sam Houston, second keynote speaker, will share the latest findings in the "STEM Scorecard Report."
This year NCDPI will not have a meeting for science supervisors Wednesday morning before NCSTA. However, the DPI team will provide updates at the NCSLA STEM Summit. We encourage all science supervisors and leaders from each LEA to attend.
NCSLA is looking for Science/STEM formal and informal educators who:
- Are involved with STEM Certification programs or projects that help teachers in the classroom or science laboratory?
- Do you implement after school enrichment programs such as Envirothon, NC FIRST Robotics, NC Science and Engineering Fair, Science Olympiad, and other types of science competitions?
- Have you conducted research or strategies to engage underrepresented students in STEM programs?
If you are one of these individuals that have research, programs, or resources related to STEM education, WE WANT YOU to submit a proposal to present in the Showcase of Exemplary Innovation Programs in STEM Education! The deadline to submit your proposal is October 1, 2017. Please use this form to submit your proposal. Each presenter will have one-half of a table to be used for a poster, tri-fold, and/or handouts to share with participants.
