Here is exciting news from the Fellows!

Mark Case (2012-2014) was elected to Region C Director for the National Science Education Leadership Association and will be attending the Leadership Summit in Orlando in June.

Michelle Ellis (2007-2009) was awarded the 2019 Shell Urban Science Educators Development Award while at the national NSTA conference in St. Louis in April.

Carla Billups (2012-2014) was honored by the SMT Center as the 2019 Outstanding Instructional Leader for her leadership as Elementary STEM coach with Buncombe County Schools. Check out the video here!

Beverly Owens (2012-2014) is a recipient of a 2019 Burroughs Wellcome Center Career Award for Science and Mathematics Teachers. The grant will allow her to expand professional development and science opportunities at her school. Beverly was also named the teacher of the year for Kings Mountain Middle School.

Rose Marie Cook (1994-1995) is the Lower School Science Specialist at Greensboro Day School and has expanded hands on experiential learning to all students.   She will be a grandmother for the first time this summer.

Molly Barlow (2016-2018) was elected district director for region 7 for the North Carolina Science Teachers Association. 

Megan Ennes (2016-2018) got married in October, completed her PhD and will be at the University of Florida in August as the Assistant Curator of Museum Education. 

Joann Blumenfeld (2016-2018) has won a Catalyst grant: Creating Opportunities in STEM for Students with Disabilities and has received funding from the Duke Energy Foundation for this summer and next school year. This year Joann started STEM Internships.
