NCSLA gives two awards annually to recognize service and dedication to improving science education.

The Herman and Emma Gatling Award for Outstanding Science Education Leadership in North Carolina is given in the spring meeting

The Michael C. Jackson Distinguished Service Award is given at the fall meeting.

NCSLA provides opportunities for science educators to exchange ideas and information, promote the cause of quality science instruction, and influence the creation of policies and legislation.
