Call for Nominations

Science leadership in North Carolina is as diverse as the disciplines it encompasses. From K-12 schools to universities, community colleges, and informal science centers, each of you is a vital part of the ecosystem that inspires curiosity, innovation, and growth in science education.

If you are passionate about advancing science education and supporting those who teach and learn it, now is the time to step forward and lead the way. Whether you’re a K-12 educator, a professor at a university, a community college instructor, or a professional working in an informal science center, your voice and expertise are critical.

Leadership Opportunities Await

The North Carolina Science Leadership Association (NCSLA) is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the following leadership positions:
  • President-Elect
The President-Elect accepts a three-year term (President-Elect, President, Past-President), beginning on June 1 of the election year and ending on May 31 of the third year. In all three years, the President is a voting member of the Board of Directors, a member of the Executive Committee, and represents NCSLA at professional meetings and events. The Past President coordinates logistics for membership meetings.
  • Treasurer
The Treasurer is elected for a 3-year term (June 1-May 31) and is responsible for the overall financial management, record-keeping, reporting, and compliance. The Treasurer is a voting member of the Board of Directors, a member of the Executive Committee, and represents NCSLA at professional meetings and events.
  • Two Directors (2025 – 2028)
Directors are elected for three-year terms (June 1-May 31). Each year, two director terms will expire and be refilled. They are expected to bring experience, expertise, and wisdom to the Board.
Directors are voting members of the Board of Directors and expected to attend all Board meetings.
Directors represent NCSLA at professional meetings and events.

These roles are critical to shaping the direction of NCSLA, fostering collaboration among science leaders, and ensuring the continued success of our mission to support educators, students, and community organizations statewide.
